Individual Lessons

Whether a student has years of experience or is beginning their musical exploration, there are offerings for all experience levels at Colburn. Students can develop their artistic expression and technique through applied lessons in piano, strings, winds, brass, percussion, and voice lessons (at age 13).

For 11–13 year olds who are not ready for voice lessons, students can take Intro to Solo Singing, a class designed for students who eventually want to move to voice lessons.

At Colburn’s Community School of Performing Arts, ensembles are a major element of students’ musical training. There are over 36 ensembles, including offerings for band, chamber, jazz, orchestra, choral, and more.

Auditions are required for all ensembles.

Group Classes

The Community School also provides several group classes to explore, including , , , and . Dalcroze philosophy relies on solfege, eurhythmics, and improvisation. For students interested in music theory and Dalcroze, an assessment must be completed before enrolling in a class.

Summer Camps

For those seeking engaging camps after the school year ends, the Community School offers programming to provide high-quality arts training. Summer programming engages students ages eight through adult, with programs for brass, jazz, piano, vocal, string, and percussion students.
